If Microsoft Teams won't open, isn't loading, is stuck loading, won't connect to meetings, or isn't syncing messages, follow these steps.
Symptoms
- Teams will not open
- Teams stuck on a "Loading", "Signing In", or "Connecting" screen.
- You are unable to send or receive messages.
- Calls and meetings will not connect.
Common Causes
- Temporary application issue
- Network or internet connection problems
- Cached data causing Teams to freeze/hang
- Outdated application version
Step-by-Step Fix
Try this first
- Restart Microsoft Teams
- Restart your computer
- Open Teams again
Check your connection
- Make sure you are connected to the internet
- Try opening a website (for example, https://google.com)
Re-enter your credentials
- Enter your password carefully when prompted
- Complete any sign-in prompts
Sign out of Teams
- Open Microsoft Teams
- Click your profile icon (top right)
- Click Sign Out
- Close Teams completely
- Reopen Teams
- Sign in again
Clear the Teams cache
- Close Teams completely.
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
%appdata%\Microsoft\Teamsand press Enter. - Delete everything in the folder.
- Restart your computer.
- Open Teams and sign in.
Check for Updates
- Open Microsoft Teams
- Click your profile icon (top right)
- Click Check for updates
- Install any available updates

- Try using Teams in a web browser: https://teams.microsoft.cloud.
- Try again after restarting your computer
